I just removed my oil pan and didn't realize the oil pickup had to come off to get the old gasket off. I didn't buy the oil pickup tube gasket as I didn't know it had to come off.

Anyone ever use ROL Gasket Ruberaized Fiber material before (I bought it from autozone grey in color)? I could order the oil pickup gasket but it will take 3 days. Whats your take on using the ROL gasket material, and should I use it with some black RTV or the Right Stuff gasket maker.

I had to pull the oil filter adapter housing off my wifes Grand Am and I replaced the gasket for it using that material. Cut it out, slapped it on there and it worked fine. Of course, that was external to the engine. I think it would be some added assurance if you did use some RTV or gasket maker. I cant see it hurting much as long as its up to handling the temperatures it will be exposed to.

How bad do you really need your car. Do you just not want to wait three days? Or can you actually not do without it that long?

If it can wait a few days then I'd certianly choose to do it the right way.

I ended up only using this product

Hopefully everything works out, or I'll have to use my extra L26 engine in the garage.
