header tick is normal when the car is off. most headers do that. it's when it's running is the problem.

    to the OP:
i swore my leak was coming from my flex, but it turned out that two of the bolts on the rear just weren't tightened enough. might want to just check that you have secured all the bolts. i checked mine 5x, and then for some reason i went out there with a wrench and i was determined to fix it and got two bolts to turn another 1/4 turn. just a suggestion since it sounds like you rtv'd and used the band clamps like you're supposed to.

Well I found the problem for the code. I broke the connector to the map sensor off! If I wanted to block off the egr with a nickle and dime and some rtv, do I just push them in the hole and load it up with rtv? And the ticking sounds like its coming from the rear header somewhere. Possibly the egr.

im putting my money on egr... its pretty easy to delete.. but u will be left with codes until u get a tune.. car will run fine with the codes.. to delete it.. take the EGR off.. save the egg shaped brackets off egr... rtv a nickel on the intake egg shaped bracket, then rtv a penny on teh egg shaped bracket for header hole. before i re installed i put a little rtv on the intake mani hole and the header hole... tighten down gently until u see rtv squeezing out... let dry all the way then tighten the rest of teh way down. the stuff takes awhile to dry completely ..so dont be anxious to start it up and see if it fixed leak

I hope i am completely taking off the egr and just saving the 2 things on the end. I couldnt find a way to take off the bolt on the rear header so i kind of broke the rear hose on the egr to get it off. So all i have left is just have to take that bolt off, but the crossover is in the way. If you have any pointers please let me know.

1/4" socket set, maybe a universal and 3" extension. It's not pretty...but can be done.

GTPINSC - you like a nickel at the LIM? Thought the penny usually fits better?

from the looks of my egr brackets.. a nickel fit in the intake bracket perfect. i like to think of it as i have a more expensive egr block off "plate"
