I finally got my exhaust done. I now have a full 3" exhaust. After OBX headers and DP, no CAT, I replaced the resonator with a 28" long 3" Thrush glasspack, that splits of to a "Y" like the GTP. Its then is dumped into 2-thrush welded mufflers (also 3") inlet/outlet(s). I cut the left outlet out for the new exhaust since mine is a Regal GS and not a Regal GSX. I then bought 2-slp cutouts (like the GSX) and put them on. It looks and sounds amazing. NO RASP and someone even thought it 'Kinda' sounded like a 'Small v-8'. When I let off the accelerator it has a very loud and low rumble. This combo is by far one of the best setups I have heard from the Regals and the GTPs IMO. I was just trying to save a little $ and came across a great sounding setup, again IMO. These engines just dont produce that great of a sound, but I think I lucked out. My exhaust is fully mandrel bent and again is 3". I think my headers are 2 7/8"??? and my custom crossover pipe (because OBX sucks and you should NOT buy them, pipe had to be special made/welded @ $212!) is 3 1/4". The guy at the exhaust shop stated that the extra 1/4" would help it get over the "Hump"/trans a little easier. Probably BS, but what the hay, it sounds great. I need to get some pics on here of all my money-pit-chers' LOL.

it is too big of a diameter to sound good. it probably sounds good at idle, though.

im anxious to see pics and a sound clip.

in the other hand, i seriously doubt 3" exhaust is necessary for your application,3" exhaust will reduce exhaust scavenging and rob power.

Maybe 2-3 HP MAX and I doubt even that. Your GP has dual exhaust, just as the Regal GSX had dual exhaust. Same motors. The only difference is stock exhaust is like 2 1/4" or 2 1/2". I just opened mine to 3". I doubt there is any loss at all, but only dyno figures would prove either way. Doubt theres any gain either. My theory is, we have CAI, headers and larger DP, why not the rest of the exhaust? Why do we go through all the trouble to suck all that air in, open our headers and free flow cat, if we dont allow the rest to be spent? It would not make sense to suck all that air in and not expell it at the same rate. As for back pressure, thats the glasspack and the two mufflers job. Just my 2 cents, and I may be wrong at that. Either way, I cannot tell a difference in HP gain or loss as well as torque. Sounds and looks better, and that makes me happy. I guess in the end, its all about what each individual person wants. Going to try to get some pics and that sound clip up.

It's proven the factory catbacks in the WBody's aren't restrictive until or around 350 WHEEL horsepower...which means you'd have to have some serious mods...as in...heads/cam/IC...etc. Your last sentence though is 110% truth...who cares what other people say as long as you like it.
