The gen V I have came with this metallic gasket, I've always avoided using these so during orignal install I purchased a new one.

I got desperate and when I put my motor back together I used it. Below is a picture of what the gasket looks like vs a normal. I am going to attempt to salvage the older one temporarily and put it back in becase I'm getting a lean fuel trim and misfire code.

Does anyone know if there is a purpose for this or should I just go ahead and drill it out so I can make use of it.

You need a hole there for the pcv. Or you will have tons of issues.

Those aluminum gaskets are junk, throw it away and buy the 04/05 gasket from GM.
