i wanna install the ls1 throttle body on my 97 gtp, and bluegtp91 gave me a quick run down on the chat that pretty much i need a tb adapter plate, flipped throttle bracket, external maf, and tune. where would i be able to get one of these adapter plates from or have made and also would a pcm like one from zzp or overkill or something be able to accomodate for that or would i have to send my pcm to have it tuned?

Not sure about the throttle bracket, or adapter plate, but when doing a different throttle body, you're going to need to get it custom tuned. A generic tune might help get it closer, but it's not going to be ideal at all.

Your gonna need a custom tune. LS1 TB's did not come on our car stock and every car behaves different, ie needing a custom tune to make them work properly with the car.

The Throttle Body Adapter Plate can be had at ZZPerformance last I knew.

Unless you're planning for some serious mods, judging by what you have in your sig, it's a waste of time and money. You won't need a tb that big for a while.

I didn't know your mods I was just answering your question.

Honestly for the money you'll see more gains from headers and your car will still RUN after you install them unlike the LS1...which needs a total re-tune.

For $205 get Speed Daddy Headers...then get a 3.4" pulley...those things would make your car destroy a car with no mods and just a LS1 TB/Tune.

Thats just my 2 cents worth.

ah, i just thought it'd be interesting to do really. if the tuning process is gunna be a huge pain or expensive, not sure how much the tune will run but assuming it would be a couple hundred if you're comparing it to installing headers, then nevermind. maybe later down the road then. thanx everyone

You can't just slap a LS1 on to begin with. It's got to be modified before it will even begin to work. Flipping the throttle bracket is just the beginning of it.

I did a write up on one of these forums that showed what all needs to be done to modify the TB, and how to do it. I searched around, and I didn't have much luck finding a link for you. I found a old-old thread on CGP when I first did it in 2005, but most of the pictures had broken Img. links.

I still have the pictures in my photobucket album of when I did it. If you don't have any luck yourself, let me know, I can repost it all.

This is one I just sold. Best pics I had. You can see how the throttle cable goes on, as well as the cruise. (It was cut and clocked)
