Well...if the electrode is gone on the plug...kinda a waste of time to do a compression test...since we already know he needs a new bottom end.

nick when i chipped piston/broke plug. i drove for awhile on it. would prob still be on that same motor if i wasnt lazy and would have replaced cat... i didnt feel a power loss after it happened and had no smoke coming out of exhaust.... got into it a lil too hard one day passing someone and finished it off.

i melted (not smashed) a plug and dont have any piston damage....imagine that

there is a very good chance his engine is fine.

LOL at another ClubGP style answer which is what i was LOLing at from the start. Maybe its your translator thats not working but i never called anyone a idiot for saying its a chipped piston, in fact in that same post i said it myself it could be a chipped piston BUT you need to do a few easy basic tests first. THE GUY DIDNT EVEN CHECK ANYTHING YET! He didnt check his spark plug wires or spark plugs and people here where trying to make him panic and saying you chipped a piston or blew your motor! My LOL was at the ClubGP style stupid answers where people think there cool for making a guy panic with the worst plausible thing out of a bad 15 second cell phone vid without even trying to help him at all.

If this was your best friend that came to your house and tell you he has rough idle and missfires would you tell him to replace is motor without even poping the hood to look at 2 easy basic things first?!?

I'm shure that when you have missfires you change your motor without checking anything first right smart guy?

Making the guy panic dosent help anything, before doing the ClubGP thing and saying that his motor is dead i was trying to help him do a few easy test to have a better idea of what was realy the problem.

Now that i see that he was still using his original OEM spark plugs and how the plug that he pulled looks i know that theres a very slim chance that his motor is still in good condition BUT theres is still that slim chance... The compression test will probably confirm what we already know but still leave the guy a bit of hope even if its super fun and cool to tell a guy is engine is toast

FYI, Even with headers if you have a bad tune and have your stock OEM spark plugs you can still pop a piston with a 3.4"

Yap yap yap, Point is he Got what he came for. A diagnosis. Might not have been what he wanted to hear.

Might not even be correct since it was a blind shot in the dark lol

Dont bother checking your wires or sparkplugs if you have a cylinder missfire Change the engine!

Of course you're not gonna be wrong, the car's gonna run better if it has a new motor with all the wires plugged in correctly!

At one point someone is gonna come here with a cylinder missfire and get the same advice but the only problem he's gonna have is a unplugged sparkplug wire and he will get the usual "chipped a piston!" or "your motor is toast!"

    Step 1- tests
    Step 2- diagnostics
Step 3- brag about being right

you need to use a hosting site like photobucket or imageshack then post the [img] code.
more than likely the piece of piston is in the oil pan or exited through the exhaust.

still... a 3.4 pulley is too much for stock exhaust manifolds. if u drove it in teh winter like that... all of your pistons would prob be in the oil pan.
