im running stock chain
40K miles you'll need a new tensioner.
thats abooot it.
eh xp cam isn't that big. A new stock gm chain and tensioner will suffice, as long as you keep your idle a little high.
Not really...my idle was set at stock...or around 900 ish. It never idled low. When it popped I had no where over 41k on it for sure...and my tensioner was TOAST. Stock chain setup with XP and LS6's
^which is why im running 105# crow's.
bump, need wot video :D
Two months, 3K miles, few datalogs & hptuner later, car is still idling and driving good. Few things I've had that will be going on the car soon include: kyb gr2s/ssc w/ anti-pogo, gxp front brakes & slotted rears. I still have a few loose ends to tie up, which include selling my new 42#r's, getting ~60#r's to go with the 85mm MAF, bosch IC pump, and a 3.0" MPS for the street.
Car has been lowered, and the brakes are complete.
KYB GR-2's & SSC. GXP front brakes & slotted rears.
May get my stock Enkei CompG alloy rim's powdercoated black. Opinions?
Pictures of the new car's stance, soon.

Mototron 80#/hr injectors have been installed along with the 85mm LQ4 MAF. Testing and tuning, trying to scale all the MAF cells correctly. Once I get the bugs worked out of the tune, I will be dropping to a 3.2" pulley. Afterwards, E85 fill up and more tuning will be in my future.

love it
Car has been running on E85, LQ4 MAF is calibrated. 3.2" pulley is on the car, I've been running 18* with 0KR.
Posted some new pictures today.

Long story short, my I/C has not been holding liquids for very long. I decided to condemn the I/C core, then proceeded to order a new one with all new silicone tubing. Over the weekend, I pulled the blower and I/C.
Needless to say, the I/C core was indeed leaking. It was leaking BAD. There was over 1/2" of tubing damage. Here is a video of the pressure testing.

Pulling apart the I/C core...WOW. ZZP sure did a retarded job sealing these I/C plates. There were over 3 huge vacuum leaks between the intake and PCV passages, including one minor external. Thus, ever since I've had this I/C, it has been one big air/oil mixer vacuum leak underneath my blower...great. Thanks ZZP, ****ing amateurs.
Enlarged the PCV passages...and resealed the new core between the plates.

Cut the FelPro gaskets, and we were ready for re-assembly.

After she was back together, we started pulling off the old I/C plumbing and planning out the new hose routing...
The core outlet hose was crimped by the battery edge going into the fenderwell, so we drilled relocating bolts for the battery tray, and we were able to move it over a full 1/2". We added a T-Fill in the pump outlet/core inlet hose to bleed all the air at the very top of the system, above the fusebox. Needless to say, it works a whole lot better at bleeding air out than zzp's lame t-fill off the heat exchanger ever did.

Now the car has a full 100% efficient intercooler once again.
I will be taking her to the track on September 10th or 11th.
It is a Buick Oldsmobile Pontiac car show/test and tune track day at Byron Dragway.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for a few 12 second passes.
Right now the car is set up on a 3.2" pulley, 7 PSIG, 12.5 AFR with 21* ignition advance burning E85.
It pulls nice and hard for a conservatively lean / low boost tune.
:th_flamingdevil:
I dropped down to a 3.0" over the weekend and began scanning, in order to get her running consistent for next weekend at Byron Dragway.
Took a video if anyone is interested. Let me know what you think!

Maybe Im not following this right but if that IC core was leaking bad like you said get ready for another bottom end. Any Idea how much got into the engine? And hope you've changed and kept an eye on the oil. GL hope it runs great now that the cores fixed.
My I/C system has had 2 kinked hose locations and all three FMHE thread fittings leaking since it was first installed back in 2010, a while before the motor tear down. It had always been topped off daily with water, ZZP jew'd me with black rubber hoses in the S2 kit, so it most likely never got all the air bled out either. Pump connection got enough salt water exposure to corrode away the connector pins, come winter 2010.
I installed a new I/C pump a few days before I did my injectors back in June 2011, I only filled it once, barely bled it initially. Next time I checked, the level had dropped more than the usual bleed cycle, so I checked for leaks. There were no external leaks anywhere; besides the seeping thread fittings, so I drained the whole system and condemned the core.
End of August, replaced the I/C core, modified FelPro S/C gaskets to match the I/C core and ported LIM, replacing the POS garlocs once and for all, ran all new silicone hoses, resealed the horribly sealed plates, and applied paste to the threaded FMHE fittings. As you can see, it is all 50/50 green now and ready for winter.
I'm thinking and starting to agree that the I/C core tube probably got damaged moving it sometime during the cam tear down, in January..
