The key to getting a good ground is a clean and solidly mounted alternator. Most people don’t have any issues with that unless they paint stuff around the alternator.

However, if you have a doubt you can add a grounding wire from the rear alternator mounting bolt to the fender well ground. This will provide a much better and more direct ground if you’re having issues.
My problem was in the starter wiring. I was wondering if running a ground from the Alternator to the chassis would help. Thank you for the suggestion.

Well, I’m not aware of the “problems” you were/are having. That being said, yes, IMO running an extra ground wire can be beneficial when loading the alternator above about 50%. As I mentioned earlier, installing this will make for a better more direct ground than from the factory. IMHO that extra ground is the most needed part of what most ppl refer to as the Big 3 upgrade. GPs come from the factory with puny 8 gauge wiring, and the fender well ground is painted over. The ground running to the tranny is usually solid and not an issue. So I’m not sure what happened there. I’d start be checking and cleaning all your main ground and positive connections, then go from there.
