Thread: Spark plug broken off in head

So the #2 cylinder (On the rear bank) spark plug is broken off and stuck in the head. The part of the plug with the nut on it came off so its just the threads and maybe a piece of the electrode at the end that is still in the head. Some of the center of the plug came out so I dont know if the electrode fell into the combustion chamber or what. I'm a sad panda at the moment... How hard is it to pull the head off the motor? I dont see any other way to fix this. Ive never pulled a head but I dont see much choice. I called a shop and they wanted like $1000 bucks. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance

I dont know whats all involved in pulling a head. Is the actual head gasket the only one that needs replacing? If anyone knows of a handy-dandy guide for doing this they could point me towards. I dont want to ask a ton of common knowledge questions lol. I just have to decide if its something I can do in my driveway over the course of the next week or so

That was my first thought, but is it possible to do on the rear cylinder bank? Not a lot of room back there. And if it is possible can I do anything to make sure theres no porcelain or metal scraps in the cylinder from the plug breaking?

now that you put it that way I'd suggest removing the head.

You could pull the motor out? A lot less work then pulling the heads. You could then extract it a lot easier. Although if anything fell in the combustion chamber, you'll be out of luck. =(

After looking at the plug for a while I think the center came out. So its just the threading and prong still in there. Im going to try and get a bold extractor in there and see if I can turn it with a vice grip or something. Would it be ok to spray some PB Blaster back there? I dont know if penetrating oil would be disastrous or totally fine if it gets in the hole lol.
