I took my L67 apart and found the rings cominig apart. I'd like to add a little hp to it while i'm in it. Would a cam swap be worth the money if i am going to reuse the stock valvetrain ? Is there a good cam that works with the stock valvetrain? Are forged pistond necessary i am only going to add a 3.4 pulley and better exhaust manifolds with a better downpipe. Id like to hit 260 if possible.

How much are you planning to spend? There is a lot of machine work to do to rebuild these.

I chedcked all the bores, none are damged. I dont think ill need to bore it. No damgae to crank or rod bearing surfaces. It still had great compression even with the damaged piston. I noticed the plug was bent so i took it apart. Cyl 3 was missing a ring land.

I would still have the cylinders honed, you will need all new bolts for the bottom end, and then align bore the bottom end if you want it to run for more than 200 miles.

To make sure everything is true, I have seen plenty of people rebuild a 3800 and not line bore it and they make it about 200 miles before it throws a rod.

Ok, i bought all new bolts anyway. I learned that lesson once already.
Ill get it line bored. What about the cam? Is there a good cam that works with the stock valve train or is it not really worth the money?

Read the safely modding your 3800 thread. It is a small cam from zz performance.

Looking at the cylinder walls in better light i found some good scrathes in cyl 3 bore. Oh well time for a rebuild. Does anyone use the non supercharged bottom end with higher compression? I really hate that its scratched but judging by the pistons there was really no way it could have been clean. Wishful thinking i guess!

lots of people use the high compression block with the blower. youll just need to make sure youve got enough supporting mods to prevent detonation.

I have a NA 3800 bottom end so ill just use that. Here is my list just chime in for any help. Na 3800 bottom end, Power log, vs cam, zzp 1.01 computer, u-bend delete, i have a friend who does turbos and said hed do a air/air intercooler for me. Is an intercooler an overkill at this level? Use stock pulley or go down a size? Realistic horsepower numbers 260 to 270?

Unless he owns a machine shop and is good he can not do an air to air intercooler.

because its retarded impossible. these cars use air to water, not air to air UNLESS youre running a turbo.
