how did you do your valve covers?
bondo, sandpaper, and a rattle can lol. i didn't put the time into them like i should have, but they turned out alright i suppose
this thing running yet?
got a little wiring done. MAP sensor harness is hooked up, waiting on the rest of my check to get belts and fluids and other little stuff. need to get the y-pipe mounted so i have a front o2 too. but... almost
good cause I want a ride in this thing... you can drive all fast and I'll throw **** out the window untill you get pulled over again lol
but... jail doesn't sound fun lol. and between the tipp city cops, state dicks, and sheriffs on my way home, i'm sure to get boned lol
got it started tonight! no supercharger oil or functional bbv, so i left the blower belt off. i thought i was going to wake the dead when it finally turned over. open headers... i probably woke up the entire block. and it started leaking fuel out of the connection from the line and the rail, so i didn't get to run it for nearly as long as i wanted to. but it was really loud, really lopey, and shook the entire car, so i'm pretty sure i'm going to enjoy it. still needs a few things before i'll feel comfortable enough to drive short distances for break in before dyno tuning, but it's been 16 months since i bought the top swap parts, and i'm happy it's finally at this point
Grats Phil!
FWIW if you used an L32 map sensor, the connector doesn't need to be changed and the readings are identical to an L67 map.
lol little late now. oh well, it was pretty cheap and easy to do. just looks like a mess
update for this kid. oil leak is out of the pan, which was where it was before i built it. there is a watery red fluid on the trans pan closest to the driver's side tire... i haven't decided if that's coolant or transmission fluid yet. feels like coolant, but i don't see it leaking from the head or intake gaskets, plus i haven't started it in going on a week now. so if it was leaking coolant, it would be pretty obvious. i might be driving it soon (!!!) to an exhaust shop as i can't get the collector mounted on the headers. the crossover pipe needs cut and the y-pipe welded. the bbv is mounted and the blower hooked up, but stock size belt + 3.0" pulley means it'll toss the belt a mile down the road. a bigger pulley is in the works, so i'm not too worried. also need to work on my intake. 3-inch coupler doesn't connect to a 3.5" throttle body. and then, barring any setbacks, it'll be break in time before dyno tuning. and buying and installing gauges... i'm thinking either an aeroforce interceptor or just bite the bullet and buy an hp tuners software. thoughts?
paul might come this thursday if my car is finished
well the steering gear separated when i dropped the subframe... anybody know how to fix that without putting it on a lift? i'm hoping i just have to mess with the gear and not the whole rack.
also, i'm getting P0300 codes... random cylinder misfire. spark plugs are new, wires have 20k miles on them, don't know for sure about the coil packs. i'm gonna start with some fuel injector cleaner, but i'm thinking it just really needs tuned. all my tools are at work so i can't do much in the way of diagnosis. anybody have thoughts on where i should start?
in other news, i got it up to temp today without it losing any hoses or a whole lot of smoke. i was gonna take it out... but it only goes in a straight line, so yeah.
you didn't pull the bolt out of the steering shaft when you dropped the subframe?
sure didn't
do you know what part i need to replace?
so the top of the rack where the intermediate shaft bolts on to the rack came apart?
if i got that right i think your a little f'ed. may have to remove the rack to get it back together.
that's my best guess. i'm gonna try to get under it tomorrow night to find out for sure. this is gonna be a PITA
take a pic if you do need to replace the rack it's not to bad of a job
