    Hey All,

I have a 04 GTP CompG. Question to you is: Do you guys use the oil life monitoring system on your cars or do you still recommend replacing it every 3,000 miles? I've only put 3900 miles since May, when I bought it. Just wondering what your thoughts were on it. I do live in an area where there are many hills.

    Just wanted some input.

I believe synthetic shield an older member here did some research on it and found them to be pretty accurate. I know on our g6 it read 0% just a month before it was do for its yearly change of amsoil.

nice. Oh hey 01GTP, I pm'ed you about the Amsoil. I'd like to switch to either that or Mobil 1, but I first must see if I have an oil leak...grr. The intake was already replaced before I bought the car because of coolant leaking. I see oil seepage on the right side above the transmission... I'm not pleased. On a positive note, my oil level is full. =)

dont be lazy. just open up the hood and check the dipstick. I have never ever gone of how many miles are on the oil. I dont do that because it is not how many miles your drive, it depends on the type of driving that you do. I have seen highway vehicles go an easy 4000 miles and when you check the dipstick for the color of the oil that it is still almost factory clean.

like me i drive 90% city, my top speeds are around 45-50 and stop and go. Both my jobs are only 3-4 miles from home. My car will never even reach 180* with these trips and my oil shows wear.

I can go only about 2200 miles and the oil is very bad shape.

Nice! I checked mine today, in fears of this oil seepage I hope I don't have. Perhaps its just my imagination and old stuff from when the valve covers leaked...but I'll find out Friday.
My oil level was fine and the color still looked new.

oil analysis is the only accurate way to be 100% sure if your oil is okay or in need of changing.
