I am one of those do it your selfers who want to do everything from scratch. I am building one of those phenolic intercoolers for my 2000 gtp but cannot find a supplier for the air to water cores. I have everything else but cannot source a core manufacturer/supplier. Anyone out there done this type of project have any names/websites. Thanks in advance

most use a heater core. Oil coolers would also work.

i think ZZP uses a heater core from a ford probe.

you dont want to put together an SSIC, you want a full size.

Why is a ford probe heater core $50-60 when that one is $150 then?

    Thats RETARDED markup

Try and find a aluminum heater core for a 95 ish ford probe. They are unavailable. You will find aftermarket ones that have, at most, have the fins.

The heater cores they use are not the probe. Very similar but the ones they have are more fins per inch. The ssic is a hayden 1676 trans. cooler.

Is there a reason copper cant be used?

Copper conducts heat better than aluminum does.

I remember from my PC building days that the copper heatsinks always outperformed the aluminum ones.

Also if the fins are drawn from the base the fins are more effective than if they're welded. But that limits the fin count.

But even laminova cores are single piece, no welding.

The heater core last I checked was from a Hyundai Accent.
