If I delete my EGR, I understand it will throw a code, but will it actually effect the performance of my engine? I won't have access to a tuner for a little while, and I need to get rid of this leaky EGR system.

Thanks Bio. If the codes were erased, would gas mileage still be affected?
Colossus, yes, I think my EGR has been leaking ever since I installed the Speed Daddy headers. I'm going to delete the EGR today to see what happens.

the codes have nothing to do with the gas mileage. the EGR itself will be active only when cruising and it just puts a little exhaust gasses into the intake to take up space in the cylinders as well as some other added side effects of reducing detonation at times. however, i took mine off my car and really had no ill effects. you maybe lose 1-2 mpg if that.
Yeah, I deleted mine because the metal hose going from the egr to the LIM broke when I removed my engine. It makes the engine bay look a lot cleaner without it, and I did notice a small drop in gas mileage, but there are no real Ill effects
^The whole thing gone eh? really does clean it up.....
I understand removing all the metal components, but what did you do with the wires that plugged into it?
You can tuck them up into the fuel supply harness and tape it shut if you want. Just don't cut the plug off, never know when you want to put it back on.
Really, the only positive to taking it off is getting it out of the way. I didn't even notice a difference in mpg's when I took mine off years ago.
