    Unplugging the MAF is the best way to check that. Forces the PCM to rely on the MAP sensor and TPS sensor for fueling, eliminating the MAF from the system.

    So am I to assume you could actually rely on just those 2 sensors to get you to the house should the MAF fail again? I did seem to run just fine without it, but I replaced it anyways just out of principle..

    also, why wouldnt a bad MAF trigger an SES light?? Seems kinda funny - when i REPLACED the sensor, I got an SES for the MAF! I have cleared the code and all is still well.

    i basically have the same problem, with essentially the same motor, just 30 years older. i have a 1976 buick with essentially the same 3.8 and it starts and then less then 2 minutes later it dies, and wont re start till much later. could it be the same problem??

    vapor locked? I dont not know for sure, but I do not think that a 76 motor would have a CKP........
