5:30 this morning im on my way home and i step on the gas to pass this tractor trailor and i huge clunking noise followed by a bizarre jerk rattled my car. Then i cant accelerate like normally. initially i think my trannys gone but the sound sounds more like an engine problem...Anyone know what this possibly is. I want some kind of idea before i take it to get checked out tuesday.

Sorry for the delay. But the mechanic said the bearing flew in the engine and damaged the inside of the engine and the pushrod broke through the engine. But luckily I have a warranty and they cover it so I will have my car by next thursday

Bad LIM gaskets? How many miles were on it? Excessive beating it to hell will do it too sometimes.

Low on oil? Since it is in fact what keeps bearing from spinning (for the most part) my assumption is it was oil related.

I say that cause it probably had nothing to do with being lean, probably had nothing to do with mileage, but had a lot to do with the bearing failing to the point of a rod seizing up. I suppose it could have been the intake gaskets leaking in some coolant... You never know when/if/how/where there motors are going to fail. Some have taken them into the 11's-12's with over 200k, so that's just the mystery of the 3800. Good thing they're cheap, and for you, that you have a warranty.

Well I finally got my car back today. The exhaust sounds crappier then it did before it went in. I'm gonna get it looked at on Saturday. Other than that everything is good.
