Which engine should I get for my 02. L67 is about to die..... From reading the forums looks like L26 topswap gives most power????? Is it hard to do and do I need anything else besides engine and throttle body?
Or shoud I just stick with l67? Any suggestions????
Also, Will a 04+ trans work. Might have a deal on an l32 with trans.

    TThanks

Current set up has headers, 1.9s, OER lifters, comp rods, l76 springs, CIA. Was going to put pully in and tune before lost oil pressure....Will be putting all this on the new motor of course.

Just keep the stock pulley for the start up and break in at least. Then get rid of those clattery annoying OE-R lifters and put in something along the lines of LS7's

04 tranny wont work without a custom pcm, as in a delphi pcm with a service #12206924 with a 03 pcm file and modified powrtuner database in order to flash it.

    I'd go with an L32...

So if I can find an L32 with a tranny and I get the computer from it it will work? What car has the delphi pcm in it???? Or should I just rebuild or find a lower mile one. I have 160K on my current one.

No. Just rebuild or find another 98-02 tranny.

I found an 06 with the L32 and trans with 62K for 1000 bucks total. Thought it was a good deal. But if its easier to stick with a pre 02 then that is the way I will go. Thanks for the info. Makes sense.

OK, the junkyard qouted me a wrong price on the L32..damn idiots. I found a L26 with only 18k on it for 600bucks. If I topped swapped everything off my L67 along with the headers and mods, will it work since its a Gen 3 blower and intake manifold? I searched all the top swap threads and couldnt find anything on an L26 with gen3 parts. Looks like it will be easier since I do not need to mess with evap and throttle bodies.
Also, would I lose any power or will it be better? Just wondering. I want to do the trans and everything when its out so trying to keep it under 1000 bucks or so since its my DD.
THanks for all the help already

Awesome...is it worth it to do this swap? Seems straight forward for a low mile engine. Or should I use a higher mile L76 and have a straight swap?

Every 3800 II or III block is a direct swap, unless you need to tune for the high comp.

Remember that your going to have to switch out the heads because there are no injector holes on l26 heads since they are located in the lim. When switching out 160k heads to a 18k block, you may want to check the heads for flatness or make sure they are not warped.

I was thinking about that as well. I was maybe thinking of having them machined to be safe and cleaned up. I have L76 springs on the heads now with 1.9s. Maybe look at the valves to? do they go bad?

the heads wont warp but they will likely have cracks mainly inbetween the valves
