Ok, so. Friday my '97 GTP started, ran, everything fine. Monday morning not so much, it sat for the weekend. I had to crank it for 5/10 seconds two to three times before it finally fired up and revved to 1000 rpms (where it normally goes to warm up) Then a few seconds later it splutters, coughs and dies. Starting the second time is easier. It revs to where it should be, pauses there to give me false hope, and dies again. So I start it again and this time whenever it tries to die I feather the gas pedal till it revs up and stops sputtering. Once the engine is warmer it stops trying to die, but the idle is rough, and it bogs pretty badly while I'm driving it. Although I'm not sure bogging is the right word, maybe hesitating. It doesn't want to speed up from a stop for a bit or unless I really put my foot into it and convince it to move. It also randomly bogs a bit while at a more constant speed.
This morning it did the same thing, hard start, and trying to die on me. I revved it to 3000 and held it there until the engine had had a chance to warm up a bit. Didn't try dying after it was warm but the same rough idle and hesitating/bogging happened while driving.
It drives smoother and starts easier when warmed up a bit, and we've been having rather wet and cold mornings recently.
I replaced the starter about half an hour ago (it started ok after that, but tomorrow morning is the real test) but it's still got a rough/uneven idle.
I'll check the MAF, TPS and spark plugs/coilpack tomorrow when there's light, but if it was any of those, wouldn't it be throwing a code? So far it hasn't thrown any codes.
I'll let you know what I find out, but in the meantime, any ideas?

Well we (my brother and I) cleaned up and resealed a wrecker engine off a Buick and put that in about half a year ago? New plugs/wires but I don't know if we did the PCV, I'll check on that, thanks.

I've narrowed it down, I've got a problem with a fuel pump sensor and/or relay. Finally had it completely die on me today, but I ran into a tidbit about the fuel pump relay (resistor) last night, so I popped it out and bent the one tab back/out, and it started up. It started a bit rough, but a start is a start. Didn't try to die on me after I stopped at the parts store either. Basically what removing the one pin does is makes the pump run on high all the time (wish i could but I can't find the page explaining it again). Not ideal for everyday running but whatever gets me home minus a tow bill.
Have a new relay on the way, and trying to find a fuel pump regulator. Hopefully the relay fixes the problem, and if not, maybe the regulator will.
Idle is still unsteady, but it may be unrelated, I'll find out when the new relay/resistor comes.

Not entirely, took me until now to work it all out.
before I replaced the filter I wiggled line from the tank to the filter and it started leaking gas. Bad news bears, yes. Replaced filter and it's been dry ever since, but the problem still remains. Took awhile to find the prob, but now I think I've isolated it.
Where the fuel line hooks into the fuel rail, on top of the engine. That be leaking. Of course when I'd check after driving somewhere I'd see nothing (maybe a slight bit of discolouration, but considering the nice layer of oily residue and sludge coating the rest of the engine bay, I'm not gonna see that right off) because the fuel had evaporated already. Checking it before heading home after work revealed that it was actually wet and leaking fuel all up in thar. The plug's'll need replacing after this too, all covered in carbon.
Sooooo. I'm completely in the dark here, is there an o-ring I can replace and be on my way or am I looking at completely replacing a line or rail or both? Anyone know?
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, please ignore the rampant stupid.
