i have a gtp and blew the motor a ouple weeks ago. i was wondering what i would have to do(and if its a good idea) to swap in a 3800 out of a gp gt. i want to do it because of the higher compression. i also have a 3.4 pulley, xp cam, heads up are ported, 3in dp. would it be too much stress? and i heard the non sc 3800 have the timing advanced 1 degree stock? what do i do about that?

Lemme guess, you blew the front bank of pistons?

well you'd need the heads up assembly with a few other parts, see the top swap thread and get headers.

no. i spun a rod bearing, cam bearing slide out halfway and got all chewed up, and the main bearings are washed out. i have a l67 motor. i wanted to bottom swap it for the higher compression.

you can use an l36 block. the higher compression will allow you to more easily blow up the motor when you introduce boost. if it doesnt knock, it is just as strong as the l67. you would time it at 0 and it would run fine. it is not really advanced anymore after you take the timing set off and replace it.

    done.
