Alrighty everyone, the season has ended and it's time for Madeline to go into the garage for the winter and get some repairs done.

First and pretty much only repair this year is my Vac leak problem that I have been plagued with ever since I re-installed my Gen V onto my SSIC.

I'm getting a leak in the front of the mating surface, seems like it's in between the SSIC and intake manifold.

Manifold was never taken off so I don't believe that is the problem. I will be checking the blower and SSIC for any warping while everything is off.

What gaskets should I use for this install??? I've tried two OEM, removing the o-rings from the upper gasket, the last two times I've tried this install. I've also used GM adhesive each time.

I also need the torque sequence for the Gen V blower to LIM, anyone have it???

Any suggestions and / or tips would be greatly appreciated!! THanks!!

    Jason M

my SSIC as warped from ZZP, so id bring it to a machine shop and have them check it for being flat. i used RTV around the bottom of mine to get it on the intake, and a stock gm gasket with rtv around the core to get it to the blower

The thing I dont understand is I had this very same setup installed before, then I took the blower off to get it polished, re-installed it everything the same.....except this time I used GM adhesive instead of permatex "the right stuff". Now I get this leak...maybe I should go back to permatex....

Well the right stuff is a better sealer but i wouldnt use that crap on anything i want to disassemble. It is way too adhesive like. Go make some silicone gaskets for $10 a piece and be done with it.

All the years of my shade tree mechanic experience, I've never made a silicone gasket. How do I go about doing this?

Go to target, in the baking section they will have a silicone baking sheet it will be blue in color, take the stock gasket and trace and cut it out. Easy as that.

I already told you. Go and get the silicone baking sheet, take a stock gasket and put it on top of the sheet, trace it and cut out the silicone sheet to match the gasket.

And you did this? How could that hold a seal??? Aren't those things treated with different types of non-stick chemicals and such??? I demand pictures!!! :P

No. They are pure silicone. Silicone by nature is non stick to begin with. It is temperature resistant up to 600 degrees. Im running one right now seals great. What picture you want? Its just a gasket but silicone instead of paper.

Right now i have no intercooler but the ssic i made for a customer used the silicone gaskets on top and bottom and it sealed fine. They are a bit thicker and hep compensate for a little warpage or inconsistency than the paper gaskets. Best part is they are 100 percent re-usable.

    Just use RTV, no gaskets.

So you don't use any type of rtv with that silicone gasket?? Exacto knife to cut it? Also, those sheets measure 16x12, is that large enough??
