The fuel pump on my car went out yesterday. I have been searching around here for the asnwer to my question with no luck. While searching, I came across tdcracings fuel pump install write-up. I've noticed that when i looked up the pumps from advance auto parts, it shows only the entire pump assembly with all the other stuff and the pump. I was also looking at the group buy for the walbro pump and it's the pump only. In TDCracings write up, he just replaces the pump itself. My question is, where do I get just the pump? Or do I need to replace all that extra stuff? Thanks for any help!

From what i've seen when looking into the pump it is sold as an assembly in some places (wreckers, junkyards, parts stores) and have been told that you are better off to replace the whole thing at once instead of just one part. I found a whole used assembly for my 2002 GT for $100 (canadian).

Thanks! I'm in pretty good with a couple local junkyards from getting parts for cars I recondition every day, so they will probably give me a good deal. So, I will run down to one tomorrow and see if I can get one. Hell sometimes they just give me stuff, so hopefully they will give me a fuel pump? They have a lot of GPs so I will keep my fingers crossed. $250 its just way too much. I can probably get 6 or 7 used ones for that if they charge me $40 or so for each one. Thanks again!

the walbro fuel pump is an aftermarket high flowing fuel pump. if you now making 300hp you dont need it. Autoparts stores sell the whole fuel canistar, its take out the old one and drop in the new one. Wbodystore.com sells them for $160 with a 1 year warrenty. ive been running the NA one in my GT for the last 3-4 years with no problem, ive even done an l67 swap and still havent had any problems. they also sell just the pump for $80 and a high flow pump for $100. with the high flow pump you should do the fuel pump rewire about another $100 depending on where you get it.

    W Body Store

^^i hope thats ok, sorry if it isnt.

And I've found that TRE Performance sells high flow pumps at a great cost. Been running mine for over 4 years w/o problems. Many W body guys are using them as well.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

if you go to advance, they sell just the pump for about 60 bucks, with a 1yr warranty. if you want to go that route i would suggest that. personally id swap out the entire assembly.

I got one from the junkyard for $50 out of an '02. He said if it goes out within a month or so he'd give my money back. Now to get the time to put it in, along with my new headlights. Thanks for the input guys! If this one goes out, I'm just going to buy a walbro high flow even though i don't "need" it. It's prolly better than the autozone or advance ones.

I called him today and asked about it to make sure. He said he was wrong and it was out of a '99. He said he has a 99 and an 02 and told me it was the 02 by mistake. Hope I'm still ok. I told him it was for a 98 when I first called him. I will find out this weekend when I tear into it. Thanks!
