Are these plugs to cold to run on a slightly modified engine?

yeah, slightly modified i would run 104s. but if you are still on a stock pulley you should run the stock heat range.

platinum plugs? Just get autolite 605/606 for a stock-ish car. 104's for a 3.4" or so setup...and 103's for anything in the 3.0" area or lower.

I bet those will be too cold but it all depends on what "slightly modified" means.

For all plug questions, I think Overkill's article should be required reading:
Ontario Quebec Club Grand Prix • View topic - Which Spark Plugs Should I Run?

Lots of good info there on the subject.

Here's the deal. I bought this car used from a dealer. I noticed that there was a few modifications to the car. Wasn't real sure about the pulley but found out that it is smaller than stock. Not sure what size it is. The PCM has a zip tie around it so it looks like it was taken out and reflashed. Also noticed that the U-bend delete was done and a colder thermostat was installed. I let my sixteen year old son have the car to drive. I told him to run only high octane gas in it as I was almost sure that the pulley was smaller. Well he didn't. I got the car back with a bad knock and a busted piston. I bought a used engine out of a 99 park avenue bone stock. Thats how I noticed the pulley was smaller on my blown engine. So I am not sure what plugs to run with the stock pulley and the mods I have on the car.

you reflash the PCM in the car. the zip tie around it is because normally the PCM is held in the stock intake box.

for stock you should run autolite 606s or a similar plug since youre still running the stock boost level. you want to run copper plugs in a boosted motor.

I thought I read on ZZP that you could send them yours and they would send you a new PCM. Also how do you figure out what size pulley you have? With calipers?

you can do the oldschool way with a piece of string, measure the circumference, etc. or you can just measure the diameter of the pulley. is it a press on pulley or a modular pulley system pulley?

the only pulleys it can be with that limited amount of mods are a 3.5, 3.4, 3.3, 3.25, or a 3.2. if the previous owner put anything below a 3.4 on there then you found the reason why the car was traded in and why your kid blew a hole in the piston.

if its a press on its more than likely a 3.5, since those came on a few options GTXs, which yours sounds like since you also have the SLP air box. you might also have a better ratio set of rocker arms, so you might want to look into that before you toss them out.

you need some form of a scanner to look for knock.

Where could I purchase a scanner from? Is there a stamp to look for on these rockers to tell the ratio?

i believe the optioned rockers were SLP roller rockers (1.8:1 ?). youd be able to easily tell the difference between the stamped and roller rockers.

you can pick up something called a scanmaster II if all you want it for is scanning and checking of engine codes. if you want to log scans youll need something a little more complex like an LS1m (palm pilot with a scanning program and a OBDII cable). if you want to tune your car youll need a DHP Powertuner or HPTuners, which would also require you to have a laptop.

The pulley is 3 3/8 inches in diameter. They are roller rockers for sure. The rockers on the park avenue are also rollers.
