im talkin about the nitrous kits that spray on the IC and not into the engine itself...

bored at work and my mind just thinks of stuff like this sometimes so...ya lol

Never used one but it should work in theory. In fact some cars come with an IC spray from the factory. I am not sure if the new subaru sti does but the old ones did.

The spray when evaporated cools down the heat exchange, much like sweat cools down your body.

No spray on the newer ones. Just a TMIC. Still makes the same 305HP stock.

nitrous is not an intercooler. nitrous is BETTER than an intercooler. if youre using nitrous to cool an intercooler youre doing it wrong.

What about the old STI's (~2004). I remember sitting in one (at a dealership)with a button in the middle console, thought it was IC spray. That was about 5 years ago tho..

I dunno. I'm not an STI fan or anything. I just know what mine has and that it has just as much HP if not more than the older models.

    A. I know nitrous is not an intercooler...never said it was either?

    B. they make nitrous kits to spray on the FMHE to cool the inlet temps...i see em on snailed cars all the time and they do make a huge difference on them HP wise so they aren "doing it wrong"?

    C. Nitrous is not better than an intercooler...its more dangerous...less reliable...very random...not worth it...

Actually Jarrad...it is a Intercooler Spray Kit...but you won't be able to use one IMO since you don't have a FMIC like on turbo cars...

So what do you say to the people running turbo and nitrous? Anyways, of course it would help, nos just like other gases have a low boiling point. When you spray it onto the fmhe, it will remove heat. Is it worth it? Opinions vary.

V8 guys say the same thing about superchargers and turbos.

Power is power. How you make it is up to you.

Water on the TMIC is really good at making power. Cool rainy days it's a good thing I have AWD.

if the nitrous isnt making it into your cylinder then youre doing it wrong. nitrous is a power adder, not a cooler. it will do BOTH if you put it in the motor.

not necessarily, but he'd make more power if he just put it in the motor.

maybe im on crack or some thing but like bio said if your simply spraying the intercooler for the chilling effect would using methenol on a spray bar infront of the intercooler make more sense? Or spray methenol into the intake pipe. Plus not having to fill Nitrous and methenol is super cheap. Id def be going with a meth spray for supercharged or turbo applications.

Here's a good example of how it works, Its an aftermarket kit on this sub, But i doubt anything came out of the factory with a bottle of nitrous in the car:

YouTube - 07 wrx impreza nitrous intercooler sprayer

They have had Cry02 sprayers/fuel bars out for a while too... I believe water/methanol isn't as effective spraying on the ic to bring air temps. down.
