    Hi guys,

I know you can buy headers off ebay or what have you, but since I'm about to dole out a fortune shipping my car back home, I needed to know if exhaust specialists can manufacture headers for a particular car, and would it be more cost effective for me to get that done? (Keeping in mind that labour costs in the Middle East are just a few dollars an hour). Also, if I do get that done, what is the best material to make headers from?

    Cheers!

I would think the price would be the same or more to get custom headers.

The simple downfall is that you are a guinea pig, they will be unique headers and thus untested. If they are installing them then maybe, if not you could run into problems. Problems like clearance and sealing/fitting.

You should talk to these people, get a price quote and see if they install or guarantee their work. Keep in mind headers (w/o the DP) can cost between 350 and $700.

As far as i know 304 stainless steal is the best material to use, but if these people are exhaust specialists they should know this.

    Answer this first:
    -Are you installing yourself?
-Whats your price range 1) For headers? 2) For install?
-If installing yourself whats your mechanical expertise and access to & experience with a welder?

I also think that you should go for 304 stainless steel. If you were to have a custom set made for you, you would have to trust the people that are making them for you and give them your vehicle so that they could fab them in there to ensure fit and function. Personally I would order a pair of pacesetters and have them fabbed in.......but I dont know how well you trust anyone there. It is up to you....

Thanks for the answers guys! Yeah, I would likely be installing them myself, and I'm decent with a welder, even though I haven't had practice welding for the past year. I reckon I should probably get Pacesetters before leaving since it seems to be the better option. You guys make great points about fabricating new headers - too much risk. Issue resolved.

    Cheers!
