As soon as you get the valve covers off, clean the gaskt grooves, put about 6 tiny dabs of RTV spaced out in the gaskets grooves and install the gasket. This will allow time for the RTV to setup for a bit and hold the gasket in place when installing the covers later.

Make sure you clean out the rocker bolts holes. I don't have an air compressor so I used Q-tips to get all of the oil and metal shavings out.

Assembly lube on the rocker pivot points, valve and pushrod contact surfaces.

Clean the vc to heads mating surface.

properly torque the rocker bolts and vc bolts. Blue (service removable)loctite threadlock

    rocker bolts
    stock 11 lbs ft + 90*
    ZZP reusable 25 lbs ft
PRJ 30 lbs ft - PRJ recommends red locktite (service removable)

VC bolts 89 lbs in... Inch pounds

I could not find a torque wrench that went below 10. I ended up buying a cheapo version that had the indicator needle. I hope its not super critical. They are snug and I dont fell I over tightened them. If my VC leak after I get it all put back together that is gonna P me off lol.

Rocker torques specs are way more important - my guess most people don't use a torque wrench on the vc bolts. I'm a bit anal. If it has a spec I'm using a torque wrench. Your vc will likely not leak as long as the gasket is install properly.

Thanks to all, especially Gandalf. Without him, I couldn't have done it.

The car cranked on the first attempt. We had taken our time, stopped for lunch and killed a half dozen long necks along the way.

The car pulls harder when it gets in the upper rpm range. The 40mph kick down hits hard. An initial scan with skewed fuel trims netted only blips of KR from 0-90. Once the trims are settled in, we'll tune in more timing. WOOT!
