If the stock PCV inlet is blocked, breather = unmetered air = rough idling. Not hard to figure out.

the design is fine
The pcv function was known about and could be fixed, therefore there is nothing wrong with the core. Im still willing to bet that there is a vacuum leak somewhere that didnt get taken care of. I would try the silicone gaskets before he condemns it.
Colin- if you need some silicone gaskets let me know ill send some for you no charge.
Actually, i may have not tested the phenolic version, but i did have the very first intercooler i made, aluminum version, on my car for a little while and it ran fine. I used an oil/air separator from a 2.3 quad 4, which is the same thing as an oil catch can. I took it off to make a phenolic version and never had the time to make one for myself unfortunately, but i have no doubt they work with no problems.
I swear, this forum is a bunch of rabid dogs, almost as bad as ClubGP.
Mini's right, there was a vac leak. THE BREATHER.
I'm certainly not saying this was handled correctly, but come on guys, stick to what's really the problem here.
Scimmia, i guess im not following you here on this, both sides of the pcv are blocked on the core, would that make a vacuum leak and where?
If both sides were blocked, it wouldn't matter. In the other thread, though, he took off the breather and said he was feeling vacuum at the front valve cover, which means the crankcase is connected to vacuum somewhere.
Hmm, yea that is weird. Both sides definitely are blocked on the core though, and he said he used lots of sealer on it the second time. I have no idea what could be the matter, but im pretty sure its not the i/c core.
In that case, there's probably a leak between the intake and crankcase elsewhere. With the stock PCV system functional, it would be pulling metered air, so it really wouldn't matter, but with it blocked and a breather, it would cause problems. The question is where? LIM? Heads? It could potentially be where the IC meets the LIM, but if he used that much sealant, I don't know how.
Well i dont know either, he said he pulled the intercooler off and put the supercharger back on and it runs fine...
Yep, very possible. With the stock inlet functional, a leak between the crankcase and intake would act as a slightly stuck PCV valve, the air is already metered and accounted for, so the IAC takes care of keeping the engine at the right RPM. With the inlet blocked and the breather on, it would be a vacuum leak.
With both the inlet and outlet blocked, you should have positive pressure on the front valve cover, not negative. For the IC to be at fault here, it would have to be a serious design defect, such as the core extending all the way into one of the PCV passages.
Ive had this thing on and off more than enough times. Im done screwing with it. I know i had enough silicone on it ensuring there wasnt a vacuum leak. Tested it everytime with carb cleaner to second that there wasnt a leak. Like i said i didnt even use a new S/C gasket the last time when just putting the S/C back on and no intercooler and everything is running fine. Not going to mess that up. Havent been able to drive the car for over a month and a half so now that i am able to drive it now, dont wanna be taking everything off again. I know im not gonna get a refund for this so just gonna sell it. Next time i know i wont be buying something that hasnt been fully tested. Live and learn.
Lol and ya that too. At least they realized and are fixing there ****
i have a lim and extra supercharger....at least when i get mine i can play withit off the car and find the flaw if there is one. logan....you better promise me if i find something wrong your gonna fix it. like i said earlier..i expect you to come out with multiple versions of your product as nothing ever works right the first time...im cool with that as long as my input means a fixed intercooler or a new one with corrected design. im not gonna lose faith now if you promise to work with me.
u know i just went out to the shop right after i replied the last time. this ****in core doesnt sit flush. i sat it on the table and it dont sit flat at all. u know what i want a ****in refund this is bull****.
