First of all, what's everyones trans fluid temp lookin like during just normal driving?

    here's what's goin on:
I installed my new PCM, and immediately noticed it was shifting very rough. Figured it might take awhile for the adaptive driving to relearn everything so I didn't worry about it. Its been a week and half and it's still just as rough as before. I will say that when I first start my car, for the first say 5-10 min of driving, it shifts beautifully, then starts getting rougher and rougher. my trans temp stays around 200 when im not driving like an idiot. when im on the interstate in OD, if i let off the gas, the car downshifts to either 3rd or 2nd, i cant tell, but it pushes it up to about 3500 rpm, then as soon as i press the gas again (unless i floor it of course) itll shift back down into OD. It's an intense PCM, and i have a filter on the TB, and a 180* thermo. everything else is stock. Any ideas?? Or is this normal with a new PCM?

I have a 98 and my usually tranny temps vary between 185-205 depending on city/highway and outside weather conditions(also when not driving like an idiot) FWIW.....I would check with intense since they did your program and see what they have to say....?

Ya i did a scan after moderate driving on a 78* day and my trans temp was 190.

x2 contact intense. The problem occured immediately after you installed the PCM so that's most likely the problem rather then a faulty trans.

so i called intense today. turns out they sent me the PCM for the Comp G. mines a reg GTP, so there en lies the prob. I'm glad that didn't harm my engine!!! As always Intense was great at getting the prob resolved and answering all my questions, and I know mistakes happen, but man... that makes me nervous considering they make you sign a waiver basically saying if they f*** up, it's all on the customer.

yupp lqui, ur rite. jus glad it was an easy fix, and a FREE one! coulda been a lot worse. and ya blue, even if i'd shift with the stick, 3rd would shift to second, second and first were both first. crazy how dependent the entire engine/trans is on one computer. ill post back when the new one goes in tom

ok so I got the new one.... intense = fail. the new one was tuned for the right vehicle, but the computer chip was defective. Or so says the dude at intense. So now they're sending me ANOTHER PCM. Like i said b4, every1 seems to think Intense is a great shop but im starting to have my doubts...

why not just have it custom tuned by someone local.........there are people near you who do it, and they can give you a personalized tune and adjust it for each mod, not just a tune in a can.........fwiw

Unless my area just stinks a custom tune averages $400. One shop charges $500.

Although Intense offers a more generic tune it is only $100.

fair enough..........do what you have to do. I understand not having the money for it. The way I look at it personally( and I dont even have a tune yet-wish I did though) is the $300 more it costs you could save your motor.......just me being paranoid though. I have seen that tunes in the Rockford, IL area can be had for a base of $100 and $25/hr ....fwiw. I think I am going to go that route. That still would only be a total of $300 for an all day tuning session.

Yea tuning could be risky business.

For $400 you could buy a tuner, however you have to learn how to use it. If i had the time to i would have bought a tuner as my first mod.

I recommend that anyone who has the time to learn spend the money on an HP tuner and teach yourself. You don't have to pay for a new tune each time you get a new mod, you can make different tunes for different things (track, daily driving), and its highly effective to increase mpg's and 1/4 mile times. Someone even broke into the high 13's in a COMPLETELY STOCK 99 GTP with only a tune.

Their is tons of literature on tuning so people looking to learn aren't going blind. Again if you have the time, patience and like to read, buying a tuner would be your best investment.

this would not be for me personally.........but all true as stated above. If you have the patience, and want to learn/work with it, then this would be the way to go.

What is...the stock 13's? Mike on here did a 14.4 @ 98 with a piss poor 2.2X 60 foot. With some slicks, or even just a damn good launch, a 2.0 60 foot puts him a a 14 flat or high 13...I think its VERY possible...with a damn good tune of course.
