is there really that much of a difference? i understand that a topswapped car with the same mods will have more power than a gtp.. i get it but itsnt it also more prone to knock? so if the topswapped car has say, headers, a cam and intercooled... it would still have to run say a 3.4 pully where as the originally supercharged person with the same mods could probably do a 3.2? those may not be exact set-ups but you get the picture... so aside from the gears in the gt and the issue of belt slip... is there really any more of a benifit of having a top swapped car over a factory supercharged one? have been thinkin about this recently and just thought i would ask

Not really. Its just building what you got. It will help you learn more about your car. As for the pulley its all in the tune.

Exactly. And the topswapped car running the 3.4 would be making just as much power as the stock S/C'd car running a 3.2. In theory that is.

Yes it will be more prone to knock because of the raised compression. But if you have the mods on there to overcome that your looking into gaining a lot more power.

A while back they did a dyno on a supercharged mustang. The only thing they changed was the compression ratio form 8.5 to 10.0. They gained almost 30 HP. When you get to a certain point (around a 2.8 - 3.0) you start creating so much heat from the in effeciency of the blower that you have to strt fighting a loosing battle. raised compression lets you run a bigger pulley, And still come out on top.

Plus, there is less power being taken from the motor to spin that damned blower on a tiny ass pulley

Go high compression or go home...that's what I'm doing!!

if youre putting together a fast m90 setup and youre NOT using an l36/l26 then youre a moron. low compression = turbo (high boost). high compression = blower (low boost).
