Every plog i have seen on peoples cars have cracks in them. Both where unwrapped. I think there is just issues. Why is it ever 1st gen item of zzp now has a 2nd gen version of them ?

well........that kind of answers itself, imo...Lack of engineering and product development in the first place. So were these the 2nd gen that were cracked, or the first. Because if the 2nd gen are good, that is all that matters to someone purchasing new ones now. Where these stainless or not? Anyone seen a 2nd gen that had issues? or stainless with issues?
well.........after all of this I am ordering a plog..........I think I will get the SS version as they seem to hold up better and hope that it doesnt crack.....
I think the only people having real issues with the power logs cracking are the turbo guys. Due to the amount of weight they support. They hold up all the weight of the turbo. If the turbo guy's make a bracket for the turbo to help take some stress off the logs, I doubt there will be much of an issue then. That's what I plan on doing on my current turbo build. I havnt heard of one guy cracking a log on a blower set up. But who knows?.. If you are just going to drop to a 3.5 I wouldnt waste my money on a power log. Just my two cents.

well........I am going to the 3.4 but I will need some more flow, otherwise I will be knocking quite a bit. I have a hard time believing that all of the people here who stated that they saw vehicles with cracked plog's or have had them crack on their own vehicles had these issues from having a turbo. I agree that if you had a turbo it could put extra stress on it, but most people in this thread do not have turbo's...
If I was in your shoes and was heart set on a power log, I'd start looking for a set of nicely used headers. By the time you buy a downpipe and powerlog and pay for shipping. It'd be about the same price maybe a tad more to just have headers and the gain will be a lot nicer with zero issues on daily driving it. I wouldnt think it'd be much of an issue to run a 3.4 with a good amount of timing or even a 3.3 with 17 to 18*'s of timing. It'd feel a lot better on the butt dyno.
I ran a 3.4 with the basic stuff. Stock Manny's, u-bend was removed, colder t-stat and some autolite's. Later I picked up a zzp 1.0 pcm which just added to the fun. Scaned after every mod and checked for knock, I never seen any. 3.4 days where a while ago. But I'm pretty postive that's what got me into these w-bodys butt hole deep.

I already bought the downpipe.......it just is not installed yet. So I am not going to go with headers, and I am also not going to go beyond the 3.4. If I want anything faster, I am going to buy a real sports car(either a ws6 or a vette) in the future.
You can make anything a sports car.I am going to buy a real sports car(either a ws6 or a vette) in the future. It just might not look like one.
Anyways, Happy Modding. I belive over at clubgp there's a powerlog for sale.
