im doing my intercooler setup again (yes 2nd time)
i had a stage 3 zzp ic and made a ice box in the trunk (well dumb me i used plastic line in the cooler so that helped but so much).

im thinking of doing this again but in the cooler running aluminum line to make it colder to get back to the Ic.

ive been looking at peoples res. in the engine compartment can you get much ice in them or is it for extra water cap?

what do you think is the best way to go? i already have holes in the trunk to run the lines in. heres a pic of the old setup which did help alittle.

I guess check out a lot of the drag pics of turbo fox body's because I know a bunch of them run the IC tanks in the trunk...might try there for some tips...

We made a air to water intercooler for my friends cummins. We put a piece of pvc across the top of the lid with holes drilled in it and fed the hot water to that. It would then spray on the ice and the cold would come out the bottom. It works great the water is freezing when it comes out.

Definately the absolute best way to have an IC setup is with some sort of reservior at the highest point of the system to purge out air/bubbles. Perferably a pressized tank if you can swing it. They make quite a bit of difference in cooling and heat soaking, plus your IC will be running at full effency at all times since all air will always be purged out. Why people still do flush T setups, I'll never know.

You can run a ice box setup in the trunk with a fuel cell, its been done many times before on these car. It does work good, but at the track you have to keep it packed with ice and have to drain some of it every pass. IMO, its a big pain in the ass and a track only mod to get any real use out of it. Sure you'll get some capacity, but I don't see that gaining you much if anymore cooling. Just alot of extra weight and less trunk space. I kept my whole set up under the hood. All I want to do when I go to the track is bolt on some slicks and run, not dick with my IC, gut my car, etc.

This has been proven for years in the GP market, the best IC setups out there all run...

-Good quailty/good flowing pump like the GM
    -Reservior container of some sort
-Unrestricted 3/4" lines throughout the system
    -Large good quailty FMHE
-Distilled Water only for max performance in the Summer
-And obviously a good core as the base of the setup (SS IC is obviously not a good base)

And thats how it is. I've changed mine a few times over the years and it works damn good with all of the above...

You can still do both and make an icebox in the trunk for the track.

Here is what Sal did his setup with, he now has a/a ic though.
