I'd like my Grand Prix to not sound like a minivan. The replacement intake has helped this some, but the car is about as quiet as giraffes at a prison rodeo.

I'm curious what exhausty things I could do to help this out a bit. The main things that I'm terrified of are drone, that horrid cracking/popping sound during deceleration, and ANYTHING that would make it sound ricey...

    Suggestions?

make your own, thats what i did, go to the parts store and buy 90s and straight sections and 2 turbo thrush muffs. less than 100 bucks and i got a 2.5 inch all the way back from the downpipe. Drone? i guess, but you could leave the resonator and not have that problem.

DO NOT BUY A VENDOR CATBACK

if you do that youre throwing away literally $300 into the wind if not more. all you need are MUFFLERS. leave the rest of the catback stock because the resonator and smaller piping with help keep down the rasp and drone.

let headers or a downpipe help you with making it more "throaty".

Does anyone know of any sites that sell magnaflow mufflers for a good price? The best price I can find is about $178 each for the model# 14803 mufflers.

Yikes...that muffler is fugly...all the ricer's use those...the tips stick way out and bend up...looks like crap IMO. Get a "muffler" and go buy tips for it...

One question I do have...would there be any differences in sound if i got zzp headers and flowmaster 40's as opposed to getting pacesetters and flowmaster 40's?

probably a stupid question, but i want THAT sound that you have...

Also, what type of 40's do you have...standard? super 40? 40 series delta flow?

Doubt it...there might be a SLIGHT difference in tone but if it was notciable...it wouldn't be much. It is the Muffler and resonator that gives it the sound/tone you want...headers just gave mine the "throaty-ness" if you will.

Standard Flowmaster 40 Series Mufflers...custom fabbed 3" Exhaust from the Downpipe back with the stock GM Resonator...I have different tips on it now and it is even deeper...don't ask me how...don't know lol

I was also wondering, if i get the flowmaster 40's, how long of a tip do i need for it to look right (not sticking out too far from the rear bumper/not sticking out enough from the bumper)?

    Thanks for all the help

Not too sure...the tips that were on it in that video were for a Dodge Ram 5.7 that he did custom exhaust on and changed his mind on tips and wanted bigger outlets...SO...I got em for 20 bucks LOL My guy cut em to fit so I am not too sure...BUT...these are the exact tips I have but mine are just rolled instead of slant cut like the ones in this link...and they welded right on, no cutting...they are also clamp on's, but IMO that stuff sucks...get it welded

Like those...and I love them because they fill up the bumper SO NICELY

No, he is saying that getting a 3" catback is pointless...which for the most part it is...I just am an exhaust person and like to hear the car so I did it...plus if I EVER do the whipple somday...the 3" will be beneficial since I will be well over 350+WHP.
