today when i was driving along the check engine light started blinking. theres a loss of power and it kinda shutters when you are stopped. i can hear a tapping noise coming from the engine and if i raise the rpms a little the tapping gets faster. but my dad said a valve tap wont make the check engine light come on. i thought one of the plug wires may have come off cause i just replaced the spark plugs but they all seem to be on fine. anyone know what could be causing this? thanks

Flashing ses light means misfire. I would say something broke and is causing a misfire. Get a scanner and find out which cylinder/cylinders and start from there.

Most likely a piston went bye bye...that is what happened to me TWICE I know!! Pull out all of your spark plugs and check them. If any of them are bent then that is the piston that shot craps.

It's most likely a plug wire touching the wrong thing and got burned.

Did I call that or not...I know blown motors

Are you running any mods? Might have been a failing hard part in the valve train...who knows. My first motor was toasted on a ZZP PCM. Too much timing and I only had a 3.5" pulley with LOTS of supporting mods...might have been KR free with a 3.3" if I had a good tune IMO. Then...since the walls were fine and so was the crank...figured...why not...pulled piston #3 out and replaced it...then #5 spun a bearing. Loved it. Got a motor from Ed and did my XP Build with all the mods in my sig at once...ran a 3.2" KR free on craptastic Quiktrip 91 in the summer. Then a few months ago I had a lifter or injector fail...and piston #4 literally exploded...shredded the rings, crank, cylinder walls...BUT...the rod and pin were perfect...go figure

Hope you get it worked out man.

pull the heads. it should take you a couple hours just pulling stuff off. organize your bolts and parts so you know where they go even if you have to stop.

when you pull the heads and parts are messed up youll know it.

so the place i took it to said something broke off the supercharger and went down in the engine, now they are going to replace the whole engine. and the worst part is that theres a 3.5 pulley and rockers on the engine that i might lose cause my dad is paying for everything right now till i can pay him back, but he says he doesnt want to spend more money to take that stuff off the old engine.

bluegtp91 has literally tought me a lesson about ZZP and so has TDCRacing.these guys really do know there stuff. whatever u do after u get a new motor and what not DO NOT i repeat DO NOT GET A ZZP PCM!!! i have had to replace a motor cause of that as well and of course i didnt know much about these cars at the time so im sure that played a big factor as well. if your going to start upgrading again after u get that new motor, do yourself a big favor and read, read, read all these threads. u will really learn alot of stuff on what to use and what not to use.

ask the shop what they will do with the engine, some times they may give it back.
