I was thinking of throwing a cut-out on my car just to be stupid loud. Do you think i would loose power from loss of back-pressure? or would it really matter since im going to be s/c'ed?

The more flow the better. Back pressure is over rated to a certain point. You don't really loose power. It's just the power band is shifted slighlty. You loose some of the low end TQ to a certain extent.
Go for it. And post a clip when your done.
cutouts are stupid...have you ever driven your car straight off the downpipe? it sounds like crap and the car feels like a dog. youll hate it after about 3 minutes of driving around.
where do guys usually mount them?
In there? anyone happen to know if it fit in there and just weld up? or would it have to be hacked up and extended some?
I wouldn't do it. Think about it. You get your car tuned then you open that thing up and run lean up top due to the sudden increase in flow.
I agree. Cutouts are stupid. The catback flows just fine and will allow your tune to be more consistent.
yea, i was going to do the same thing you were thinking about, but I decided against running an electric cutout.... I'm going for the quietest exhaust I can have... thought a cutout would be nice for when i wanted to be stupidly loud...
My buddy Kevin has a QTP on his GTP. I know the quality is bad but he only runs it with race gas and closes it after the 1/4. Only other time he has used it was at Quiktrip when a bunch of ricers wanted to play. After he revved it they backed down. I'd say it is a cool intimidation factor, but...it isn't really practical either. If you had a turbo I'd understand...WRX's, SRT-4's, Evo's...things like that get them basically bone stock and gain 20-40whp...letting that turbo breathe![]()
That was his first 13...good thing about the cutout is that since it kills your low end torque (he has 3.29's) he was able to give it more go off the line and he had a 2.0 60' on street's...with these mods...and race gas...

i like the sound where u cut the pipe right after the ressy. sounds mean!!
i would love my car to be as QUIET as possible, only want to hear the air rush of the charger.
