Interesting. What fluid do you use?

My sons GTP had a breather nut that I replaced with a plastic plug when we installed his MPS. Had to do this because the hole in the pullies will not clear the nut. As long ago as we did that, so far nothing has leaked out the plastic plug.

So, what is your opinion on running motor oil vs th GM supercharger oil?

The GM supercharger oil is cheap, and is proven to work and not cause problems. Also, I don't really feel like replacing a $950.00 (ish) GenV M90 on my car by running anything different.

I have a breather nut, so there should be no pressure build up in the reservoir if my breather nut is functioning correctly, right?

In theory yes. But as I said before, everything can be vented, and you can still get some pressure build up inside. Nothing to worry about seriously.

So is there any of the bearings or rotor pack seals that are not compatible with motor oil?

Viton is compatible with damn near everything, thats why they use it. Caged ball bearings need a good constant lube on them all the time. Needle bearings only require a splash of oil to keep them happy. As long as there is a good, clean supply of oil being supplied, I don't see a problem with it in real time. But that takes you back to #1 for my own personal opinion.

I use the GM oil in all of the blowers I service or sell with fluid included. I buy it by the box of 12 from the local dealership, usually twice to three times a year. (Quantity discount vs. paying full over priced price online + shipping)

Yup, thats why they include the plastic Christmas tree plug...poor engineering design with a quick cheap solution. One of the things I looked for when I wanted to buy a MPS. I went with a DUB from Terry at South Florida Pulley Headquarters - THE source for supercharged performance products for your Mustang Cobra, Ford Lightning, Harley F-150, Grand Prix GTP, Monte Carlo SS, and Impala SS!! He had his stuff together when he designed the first ever quick change system. When everyone else followed, they had to change his design by a certain % as not to conflict with his patent. That could be the hub, to the pulley, and most obvious...the number of bolts used. Another reasion why I liked his system...he uses socket head bolts, you can use you hands, in the dark at the track to locate and switch pulleys out, where as the other ones...ya...not a lot of fun to do in the dark.

Looks like they are using allen head bolts now. I suppose if we ever see fluid, having his pulley center opened enough to fit over the breather bolt could be an option.

All DUB Units come with Stainless Steel Allen Head Type Bolts!

They always have been coming with Allen head (socket) style headed bolts. They just started coming with stainless steel ones a few years after they have been on the market for a while.

Is there any advantage to using the the allen head socket cap bolts over standard hex head bolts?

Allen head, is kinda the same as hex, though hex is often referred to the hex standard type bolts.


People many times call allen's hex because of its shape inside.

The heads can change though, and thats what tells them apart.

You have socket style:
(smooth, and knurled)


You have socket flat head with a countersuck:


And you have socket button head:


Which one would you like to try to use in the dark at the track? Another reason why I choose a DUB.

I need to look again but I think my ZZP MPS came with the knurled socket head bolts. iirc the Intense one had the bolt like in the last picture.
