i can get a set of LS6 valve springs with the seals for cheap and i was wondering if they would benefit me. i have 145k miles on the motor so im not sure if the springs will be too strong and cause a lifter to collapse or do any other harm. should i buy some? i have the motor out of the car already and taken apart so i figured this would be a good time to change them. suggestions? thanks

Do you have a cam or rockers? If not, there's no need.

Not only is there no need if you don't have high ratio rockers or an aftermarket cam, it would do more harm than good as it would cause a lot more wear on what I'm sure is an already well worn timing chain tensioner.

yeah thats what i was thinking. the timing chain tensoner isnt too wore out, but u can see the spot where its worn down. chain is still tight tho. all my valvetrain is stock so i think im not gonna buy them. the guy wanted 75 bucks with the seals and retainers

If you want to replace your springs if you think they're getting old, I've got a set of 3800 springs with 80k miles on them right here. They'll be for sale in a couple weeks (probably just for shipping).

They'll eliminate valve float and let you shift higher to take better advantage of the cam. I believe that even a mild cam is really over the max lift of the stock valve springs, although I don't have the numbers to back that up.
