Never had this happen before. My alt is getting super hot melted the boot on the terminal on the back of the alt as well as the red cable is now black. Any help would be appreciated.

they do get hot, real hot, its normal. id try changing that cable, it was likely going bad before it cooked up.

we talking about the cable, alt to top of the fuse box? if so its just a battery cable, they sell em at the parts store for like 10 bucks.
