I just installed a 3.4 and swapped out the 3.0 tensioner for a 3.5. Couldn't wait for the snow to melt, now I just have to install the plugs.

I have also changed to the 3.4" s/c pulley. I have not changed plugs yet or the 180 thermostat. They will be done this weekend. My question is did the overkill pcm give instant power gains? I also have yet to delete the u/bend pipe with the straight pipe. Should I also delete the exhaust resonator, and go with larger muffler? what exhaust system would would you recommend? corsa?

About the only huge thing you will notice out of a pcm would be the way it shifts. Other wise it will just help everything else out

From what I read on the thrashercharged web, installing a cat-back exhaust does not provide much hp gain. If I get the overkill pcm, should i get a cat back with the resonator deleted? Is there any other mod i could make that would give me a noticeable power gain before purchasing a cat-back?

You're right. CatBack's dont do much if anything for horsepower. Just sound. Resignator will cause a lot of raspyness in the exhaust. Headers will give you a nice gain in power for sure.

I asked Will (Overkill) about a retune if I installed a 3.4 pulley and this was his response; A retune should not be required when installing a 3.4 pulley on the tune we provided you. Disconnect the battery to reset the PCM for at least 30 minutes while installing the pulley to allow the PCM to relearn.

Well I took the Imp for a short ride today and all I can say is Wow. The Imps so much faster, makes me wonder what a 3.2 or 3.0 would be like. Even though I'm curious I'm going to stay at a 3.4. When I push the peddle half way the tires loose traction. If I were going to race I'd definitely go to a smaller pulley. I know the pcm has to relearn, because the battery was disconnected for a week and hopefully that means even better performance. I didn't get to drive hard, cause I was on the local streets. I didn't have any kr driving normal then punching it, but flooring it and spinning the tires I did get 3.0 degrees of kr until the tranny shifted. I'm going to take it easy until I get the install the plog and crossover. I also need two get my Lim done, I highly recommend this mod to anyone contemplating it. I could do a Burnout before but now they are crazy long.

Btw Will also said; You should be just fine to run a 3.4 with the modifications you've listed. If you find you run into any significant KR (above 4*), I'd look at a stainless ZZP Powerlog, but the 3.4 should be safe and perform well with your list.

Notice he said above 4*, Im getting 3* but I want O*. Hopefully the plog and crossover will get me there. I'll also be installing rockers in the near future, keep in mind the computer needs to relearn and my Lim problem.

Sorry but I have to say that is bad advice on WILL"S part. He nor no one else can say how you're car is doing without scanning...bottom line.

And unless he added a bunch of fuel to you're PCM i wonder how it is ''ok'' to run the PCM that he tuned for the stock pulley...With the 3.4. Enless you told him to tune it for a 3.4.

On another forum someone stated that Will tunes the pcm on all vehicles with superchargers to run smaller pulley, because most people drop pulleys sizes and if they don't the tune is still ok to run on a factory pulley. That's the reason I ask Will about running a 3.4 before I purchased it. The paperwork that comes with the pcm says it has performance fueling specifically for smaller supercharger pulleys.

I have not experienced any kr and drove the car with the 3.4 pulley and thrasher cai for the last few months of the summer. I have decided to purchase the slp header, U-bend delete, and Overkill Pcm. I will keep my fact. cat...and exhaust until I see how the car performs this spring. I can't wait to get the work done. I will be doing the work myself, How difficult is changing the headers? It doesn't look that difficult. Does anyone know an estimated 0-60 time or 1/4 mile estimate after this work is complete?

i do not have a factory freak if that is what youre saying. i still knock up to about 5* on my 3.4 as is without a tune. once i slap on my alky kit (probably sometime this week if i feel good about it) i should be able to run the 3.2 with minimal knock.

my car is still not tuned after all ive done to it.

By hooking up a scanner of some sort while driving, Autotap, Scangauge, etc. It's not something you'd just notice.
