I'm thinking about setting up another intercooler, this time with an ice tank in the trunk. I have been looking at Rule Pumps. the pumps are priced pretty reasonably and there are several in tank pumps that will work. Some pumps have an 1 1/8" outlet and one flow's like 2000 gallons per hour.

The question is if I neck the hoses down to 3/4" will I lose enough flow to justify getting a smaller pump like an 800 gallons per hour but has a 3/4" outlet.

the other thing is that the ice tank I'm looking at comes in either 1" or 1 1/8" so a pump with a 3/4" outlet would need a little extra work to make it fit.

Notice how none of the specs include what the pumps flow at pressure? That is almost always because flow drastically falls off once pressure is introduced. The 800gph probably flows less than 5gpm at the pressure your intercooler system would run at. That's nowhere near enough.

A good pump will cost you $200+.

You are right. It seems it would be more beneficial to have a custom core built using the 1 1/8" lines so a bigger pump can be utilized with less pressure in the system.

at that point it would be cost prohibitive.

I would just spend the money on a better pump at this point.

I read the article lingenfelter put out when they published that picture showing all the different flow rates of pumps. It was a bit interesting.
