I am looking to tune my GTP PCM. I currently have some mods and plan to add more. is the Hp tuner the way to go? I have the coolant code due to cooler thermostat and headers will be here monday. so i need to have the ability to take codes off the pcm. Saw the tuner on zzp for 499. but they have the professional edition for and extra 150 is that needed?

pro is nice they say, but not needed.

dhp is 250 new, its only good for w bodys where hp can tune most all cars it seems.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

You can still get all the stuff for DHP though, they still sell the avt box.

HP Tuner is better if you ever plan to tune something outside a grand prix (3800 motor). They have full support and an overall better/newer software program. The pro unit is an awesome upgrade if you want to use the extra features. (read the hp tuners website and forum for more information).

DHP can do certain things HPT cannot but it all comes down to what you plan to use it for or any future plans for it.

I own HPT myself for like 4 years now and it's the best money I've ever spent on a tuning software. I have done many of my LS based trucks and it's been awesome.
