Im Going to be installing a few go fast things on a car and had a question about the double roller setup. I have a brandy new Rollmaster purchased from ZZP 2 years ago still in the plastic that will be used I have heard some people say that the Crank Gear needs Machined to match the Stock Crank Gear Chamfer, and others including ZZPoop say that "we have never had an issue installing as-is" with out the chamfer. ZZP also goes on to say "they believe it was only early Rollmasters that had a fitment issue"

I have a OEM Crank gear that I could send to the machine shop to get the Rollmaster matched, but if I don't have to spend the money then why bother?

I already have the Machined Oil Pump Cover and double thick gasket for the timing set.

Looking for real world experiences on this one

Marshal, that link doesn't work and I believe this is the guy I spoke with on Facebook and directed him to the posts.

Take it to a machine shop and have it matched to stock end of discussion. It takes like 10 min and cost me $20

    Pat,

James has outlined it pretty well, if you are able to find his posts on it. Technically both gears should be machined, however you can get by with only the crank. If you don't.. and you install, you can measure the chain edge to block at the cam and crank to confirm it's improper fitment.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I'm the guy you spoke to. I did read. Very useful information. Thanks for the help. Don't know if anyone has done this but I emailed Rollmaster about the chamfer today. I'm just curious what they will have to say. Hopefully I'll be getting started on my build in a few weeks. I will definitely be taking your advice and going to a machine shop.

I had the crank gear machined. I also had a member here surface grind the oil pump cover for me.
I was able to use the proper gasket and have perfect clearance.

If you been looking at the sale section lately you can see what will happen if you DONT machine the gear
