After reading a bunch of stuff on this topic I'm finally changing my spark plugs. There are just 2 things I still can't figure out.

First of all, do you absolutely have to take off the 02 sensor to get the plug that is right behind it or can it stay in?

Second, I just pulled one plug and it looks like this......

And I know its Delco and it's a good one, but it looks like it could be the original

So is it a bad thing if I replace it with autolite 104s?

Before you go dropping to a colder plug, what are your current mods if any?

^ This. If no legitimate mods, then reconsider your choice

the plug by the o2, put just the socket on the plug, then slide a 3 inch extension past the o2 to the socket. you wont get it all the way in, but enough to break it free.

or if using a real plug socket, its got a bolt on the end, use a box wrench on it.

Just a new air filter. But I have plans for slightly aggressive mods. I want a smaller pulley and I want to look into a tuner

read up, you need headers before anything else.

Thanks scotty. I'm still learning about all this. But while we're on the subject, would a new downpipe allow the exhaust to breathe any better? This is the original so its probably getting pretty clogged with carbon and crap

A new downpipe will get rid of the ubend, but still isn't enough mods to make the 104s the right choice.

dp flow better, but then theres the do you need a cat where you live, tune it out, add one, and so on. and if you plan to mod just get headers, why waste money on a part your gonna replace again?

headers come with a 3" dp. you will still need to figure out what to do about your cat. 01 up cars dont like the cat gone unless it tuned out.

I don't need a cat down here. I would like to do that but I feel like that is a long term goal. I'm still trying to replace the small important things like the pcv valve and coolant.

I also need to clean the throttle body but I'm going to look into it more so I don't hurt the electrical parts in it.

This car is a lot more complicated than what I'm used to working on and it feels like it's a lot easier to screw things up

Only need to pull the MAF when cleaning it. And probably take out the screen in the front too.

It is held in by a snap ring.
But before you do any sorts of mods to your car read this thread, then read it again, then again and again and again. http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...00-Powered-Car!!

That is exactly what I've been looking for. One question though, he talks about a powerlog front manifold. Is that just half of what I need for it to get air out out should I just wait and do all the headers and dp together?

Like Mike said, a snap ring. But be very careful removing the screen, it's very easy to damage it.

You can a front plog and downpipe if you wanted, but they cost more than a set of SD headers. Read stickies and stuff all your questions have been asked and answered.

Back to the tb, is the screen on it really that necessary? I've read people talk about it being good and bad. What is you guys opinion on taking the screen off?

Also, I'm taking the tb off tonight but is there a gasket that I need to replace? Because if I had to bet, I don't think it has ever been taken off before so if there is a gasket it will most likely be toast

I'm sure you know but those new plugs won't go 100K like the old ones.
