Thanks for the offer, but I'm buying a new set. Not expensive and I might as well do them all.![]()
My parts guy can actually sell me just 12 instead of three packs of five. $39 shipped.![]()
Hey I would look else where. Thats waaaay to high. Rock auto has them for like 18 cents a peice.![]()
You sure you found the right part? I can't find them by a part number search on Rock Auto. Nor by looking in the G8 section.
I was wondering the same thing. I plan to do rockers soon and I was a little concerned about the extra strain it would put on the chain. I am shifting around 6k so I was goning to be putting on springs aswell. I have been hereing more and more about those springs. Great info in thins thread. You guys helped more than just one guy out on this one.
make sur that you do on for get the modded retainers and you mid as whell do the harden push rods be cause the stock one break the ball comes off the ends and do not for get the harden keepers also i hav ethem on an 02 gtp and i love em and it is deff worth the money it give a great power gane
Guess I could've been more specific.
As long as TDC brought up the valve locks (keepers), I have a question. Are the comp cams valve locks that ZZP sells really necessary? They say they have added strength, but if they're not prone to failure what's the big deal? Could I just go with new stock valve locks?
No they are not. I don't see how they can be any stronger. The way they are inserted into the retainer the only way they can break is if the retainer would split in half. Think about it. The retainers are cone shaped.
Do you really see any reason to buy new ones? The ones that came on the heads I bought look to be in good shape from what I can tell. I'm taking the heads in for a cleaning and valve job here in the next week or so, and they should tell me if something is amiss.
Nope I would not even worry about it. As long as you dopn't loose any LOL
Nah. Shouldn't. Going to swap out the springs on my bench. I'm thinking about just giving the springs and retainers to the machine shop to do, but I kinda want to do it myself.
I just got quote 100 bucks to install bronze valve guides and 100 bucks for a valve job.
How much are you paying for the valve job? Why don't you do it you're self? Since you really only need to LAP them right?
