The other night I was talking to HighOctaneRacing aka Kyle and he was telling me that the L26 HV3 is one color and the L36 one is another color. One red and the other black. I don't remember ever hearing this and remember there was an HV1, HV2 etc etc and believed the different colors were simply one of the other versions or the color of crap that was used for the run.

    Please.. fill me in..

I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Go to ZZP's website and blow up the picture of the HV3 the pictures. You will see a transparent title in the photo. The red one says L26 - Series 3. The black one says L36 - Series 2. Look at the photo of the two and you'll see the difference between the 2. One thing that is very visible is the area around the PCV on the red one. Also there needs to be slight modification on the black one in order to fit the aluminum one whereas the red one doesnt because it's specificly made for the aluminum plenum

I've made the L36 fit into an L26, It's not that minor of a modification. Looking at the two you can see that one has more rounded profiles than the other. I'm trying to get down to more info than we had talked about last night. One of those being...are they always the same color based on which manifold they fit.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    Probably just a different mold.

I can't see rounded vs angled edging making a ****s lick of difference on a manifold style like that anyways. I ran no insert in my GT, a DIY HV3, and the L26 HV3 in my L26 UIM setup.

I noticed no difference between the DIY to the ZZP version...and I honestly noticed only a smidge better top end by putting the insert in there vs. not even running one.

I'm going to do more research on it when I get home but if I had to take an educated guess, I would say that I think the L26 one is maybe a little more rounded and taller due to the bigger valves

Nothing educated there.. the difference in shape is all from the manifold. Has nothing to do with the valves.

The level of difference in valve size probably will have no effect...the sizes are hardly different.

So question does it really make a difference like zzp claims are they worth the money? Or waist time and money?

Considering you can do the poor man mod and achieve the same.. IDK why anyone would pay what ZZP asks.

    It's probably battery cables.

It's always battery cables with Bill.

I remember one person who posted on club gp stating that the HV3 had to be trimmed to fit into the dorman replacement L36 UIM. I know for a fact that it fits into the ineedparts.com replacement L36 UIM with no problems.

Dorman UIM are garbage in general. Most Dorman products are real cheap quality anyways
