Hey world. been creepin' on you all for a while now and decided to make my own account. My fiance has a 06 gp 3.8 na single exhaust (i have an 08 I just bought on monday!) and her resonator is rusted through, so I'm shopping around for stock but can't figure out which length is right. Now, short of me going to measure it, which isn't gonna happen since I just worked 50 hours this week, can anyone tell me what overall length I'm going to need for a resonator? I keep seeing a lot of 31'' but some variations which brings me to this post and while we're at it, is there any other options (and links or p/n) for a resonator that isn't stock? maybe some sort of glasspack? I'm new to the ideas but not new to cars. Full time mechanic. So any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A 30in or so glasspack is what 95% of us run for a stock replacment res. They do the same thing.

Just chop it off and weld it on.

Industrialfish. I clicked the link, and again that posting says for dual exhaust only and says people with single exhaust claim is too short. Thats all im worried about.

It's 31" in length last time I checked our stock resonator is a round the the 30-32" range. So it should be fine any decent exhaust shop can get it to work and add a piece of piping if needed.

sounds like you still have the factory exhaust system. so go buy a 32 inch glass pack they cost 25 bucks, take it to a muffler shop have then cut the stock one out and put the glass pack in its place. it all "needs" to be welded in. you cant clamp any of it yourself if you have a factory cat back still.

i have a single exhausts on my car and a 32 inch fits. but i also hade after markets pipes so i could just swap the res for the glass pack by welding a flange on the one end.

sounds the same as a stock res, nice and quiet.

the one i used was a thrush. they all do the same thing.

damn things still red too. not as bright, but still red.

ive had my exhaust off more time then you want to know. its what happens when you change your exhaust parts one by one.

if your pipes are soft. i found this new pipe for 32 shipped, the glass pack was 25, and i got muffler local for about 100. but they can be found cheaper on line. over a years time or so its all been replaced.
