So I'm doing a top swap on my '04 grand prix gt. I already got most of the parts. Did lots of reading and reading on how to top swap but it seems like it that most swaps are about the l67 and I need it for 04+ So...

    I got a few questions:

    1) I pulled all parts from a '98 gtp except the Gen V & LIM and fuel rails I got from an '07 gtp. But will all other parts work for my top swap that I pulled from the '98 gtp?
Such as coil bracket? Im concerned about. Or any other such as alt, heads, harmonic balancer, etc?
    2) Will i need a Map & BWD sensor from a gtp?

I really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

I'll chip in what I know.
You will need a gtp map sensor, I grabbed mine on amazon for pretty cheap. Heads from series II will work fine, Harmonic balancer is the same, I am not sure about the alternator, or why your stocker wouldn't work though.

Best of luck, I love my top swap.

you need new head bolts for the heads, all the sc pulley's off the donor engine, and the stand the one pulley sits on by the crank, the balancer, fuel rail and the l67 coil bracket, and map sensor.

you can reuse your alt, being a 98 you only have one elbow, the other is cast to the alt bracket. you can get a 99 alt and bracket. or reuse yours. i fixed my leaking elbows once, so when i did my lim gasket, i broke the top one, and only replaced that one so i didnt have to deal with the cast elbow. your choice.

a set of headers are also recommended for a top swap.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

You will probably need headers along with the map like everyone says..I have an l26 lower end and gen v up top with l67 heads amd everything else and saw kr on stock pulley..every car is different though. Its striaght foward though good luck with swap.

There is no 07 gtp btw. You'll need L67/32 coil bracket, harmonic balancer, heads, I think your map sensor will work but i'm not sure. Your alternator will be fine as well.

Awesome, I picked up the gasket set from zzp so I got the bolts. same as the aeroforce scan gauge. I also picked up some #42 injectors, modular pulley system, new spark wires.
Aluminum elbows I got in my car already since I had to replace my plastic once last year. Haha
I'm running a zzp 3" down pipe, so I won't be doing headers. I got colder sparks, 160* t stat.
I was wondering about the alternator because the guy I bought the stuff from have me everything with it. Lol even the PCM which I know I won't need and trying to sell now. I also have the Gen 3, Lim, rails, and TB for sale. Lol
I know there is no 07 gtp. Just saying that I got the blower from it with Lim and TB. xD
I followed the 3800 bible basically and now going to Top swap so I got all these other mods already.

I got one more question tho:
How does it work with the Vacum line and the people running with trac control off. What do I need to wire and were too?
I can't find answers anywhere and like I've said I've been reading lots and lots. Lol

Thanks for all the help so far dsmuts, timboku, scottydoggs, l67ss, snowth1ef

I'm not sure about the bbv wiring. You might be ok running without it on a 04+ and keeping traction control but i'm not sure.

    L67/l32 coil bracket.
You'll have to use your same alternator
    Get a 99+ tensioner bracket
And I think you'll need the map/Baro sensor
And grab a spare PCM and have that sent out to be tuned.
Squirrels are my engine. I need a Ford Regal
    04 Comp G.
