alright iv had this car close to 3 years now and its been doing this chugging problem for as long as i can remember, it will chug and hesitate in the lower gears and seem to smooth out in high gears, ill hit the gas and it wont really go anywere it feels like im being tugged back and forth a bit, i have 2 videos, one video is the car chugging and the next one is the car after i restart it, (restarting the car fixes the problem all the time) now this mostly happens when its cold out or on a cold start, although it does seem to happen on warm starts too, also lets say im on the highway and i gun it for whatever reason, the car will very rarley just all of a sudden stops giving power for a second and then gives power again, can anyone shoot some ideas that might be wrong with it? NOTE: seafoamed the car and cleaned the MAF,

I hear it for sure, almost sounds like the throttle is opening and closing 1% either way as you're accelerating.

ever have it scanned while its acting up? if that stops after a restart of the engine id think its tranny related, could have a stored code or pending code. dont shut the car off before scanning it, as it clearly resets its self when you start it back up.

i did get the tranny scanned, but not when the problem was happening and didnt throw any codes, if it is tranny related what could the chugging mean?

pcs/tcc solenoids, they are in the side cover.

my car did a chugging at 35 to 40 mph in 3 rd gear only at light throttle. 3 months later it just lost 3 rd gear. very uneventful failure too. just gone one day. im told the sprag gear failed or some crap. got a used tranny installed.

to do your self? not to bad sensor price wise. under a 100 iirc. the job to get to them is no fun tho. at a shop im sure they would charge 3 to 400.

If i kept it under like half throttle it drove perfect. When I floored it I lost power. Sounds very similar to what I had.

figured, yea ill have to get this scanned when it does it again, luckily the tranny shop wont charge for a scan, but as far as the loss of power when i floor it (doesnt do it often and i dont floor it all that often either) whats up with that?

my 02 was losing power over 30mph. Ended up being the ignition control module. It would act up sometime, then when you restart it would be fine...then while driving it would jerk and lose power. Swapped out maf, bbv, fuel filter, and fuel pump. All of which did improve but still would lose power. Changed thei ICM and it runs like brand new. How many miles are do youhave??

My 2005 GP GT does the same thing.... when I turn off the car and back on most of the time it will fix it. One time it was running perfect and then I stopped at the gas station to fill her up and when I started her back up and left it was acting up so I pulled over and turned her off and back on and it was fine again... When it was acting up I did take it to a transmission shop and got it scanned and 0 codes came up but they took it for a drive and said the clutch is slipping. I really don't think it was the trans slipping because I talked to my GF's dad who also owns a 05 GP told me he has done the same thing....

could be the clutch slipping, but i dont see how restarting the car fixes a slipping clutch but who knows, i got to get this scanned during the problem and see if it throws any codes during that time

Finally a thread about this.....I have been battling this as well in our 05 GT. The trans was worn so it was replaced with one from TEP, so I don't think it is trans related......maybe....idk. Subscribed for more info.
