Can someone please try to shed some light on this problem. I've got a 2005 GP w/3.8 ltr. Water pump was leaking so I replaced that, thermo and gasket and did a complete coolant system flush just to make sure everything was cleaned out well. Car is overheating and my coolant fans will not come on...not even with the A/C turned on. I've checked the relays and fuses, and they're all good. Stumped. Any help would be great. Thanks.

replace the coolant temp sensor. even tho the gauge in the car reads a valid temp, that doesn't mean the PCM is getting a good signal from the sensorl...its not too hard and its cheap!

I'd prolly swap the temp sensor aswell, then fill the intake manifold up with coolant by removing the thermostat (you'll lose coolant from up top when the sensor is removed). Make sure its completly full then re-install and start the car, let it warm up and bleed the system of air.

I agree with the above and would do the same. They can go either way, when I had a temp sensor go bad the opposite occured for me.Car thought it was overheating when it wasn't and started flashing temp light and into reduced power limp mode.

+1 on the coolant temp sensor, although when mine took a dump it took me three tries to get one that worked properly. It could also be the wire going dumb, if so, pull one from a junkyard car.

My experience was different still from 231FUN - my dash gauge read off the charts, but the PCM read -39*.

2004 Buick LeSabre 172k - Top Swapped, 3.5 pulley, 1.9 rockers, SLP headers... still slow...
