How would a cut off muffler sound on a this kind of pontiac
|
You want some kind of sound dampening for these engines due to how raspy they sound. I had broken a bolt for the flange that keeps the downpipe and collector fitted together and was very ready to burn the d* car. It sounded like a very loud tractor. My exhaust setup is in my signature and am VERY happy with it. These cars sound like absolute garbage when the exhaust is opened up too much. There are cut-outs for these cars, but those should ONLY be used for the track just to save yourself from driving a car that has an embarrassing tone. If anything, get a high-flow catalytic convertor, delete the resonator, and stick with the stock mufflers. Anything beyond that would drive you to hating the car.
I wouldn't even delete the resonator. The resonator is what cuts down on your drone and rasp... Before I top swapped, I had a 2.5dp Magnaflow Highflow cat, Ubend delete, deleted my resonator, dumped into Blowmaster's.... (granted the mufflers didn't help) It sounded good at idle, but giving it throttle, it was VERY raspy.
Yellow and yes on the 3.8 3.1 & 3.4
I've never heard a really good sounding 3.8l motor before. I mean even super modded ones don't sound the best. I mean u can yell they have power but the exhaust just doesn't do it good.
Why u wanting to cut it out
Good luck
If that's what u want get a 5.3L
^^^ this.. i'm thinking of doing a muffler delete.
whatever floats your boat..
I cut out my res and a few weeks later after various people telling me, "Your car used to sound good now it sounds like ****" and me saying ya i know i clamped that hoe back in there and now i get compliments again on my exhaust and its stock.
Ill never remove the res again. Although i might throw some thrush mufflers on there soon. For cheap mufflers imo they sound better than most.
