I want a better idea of what everyone likes/prefers. What weight, brand, and do you use syn or not? I've got an N/A 38 low miles.

Here's some reading for you. There's a hundred of these.

Fully synthetic Valvoline 10W-30. It's year round, fully synthetic for this REALLY high-mileage engine, and lasts for f*ing ever. Paired up with a K&N HP1001, I've been able to spread my oil changes out to about 5-7,000 miles.
Mobile 5000 because it's free!!! Lol. Wix oil filter. I only change my oil twice a year now... Im around 4000+ miles right now, the oil is still clear enough to see the markings on the dipstick....
Nonsynthetic 10w30
Mobil1 synthetic with a K&N filter in all of my cars.
royal purple and a k&n filter every 3-5k
This is why..
Royal Purple Oil Experience - 2005 Mustang GT
The cheapest **** I can buy goes into the motor, which is always napa oil or valvoline and sometimes rotella is on teh sale.
5w30 or 10w30, whatever I choose.
Oil is oil.
Majority if the time I use Mobil 1 synthetic or ill opt for whatever synthetic is on sale at advance which is usually Castrol or Mobile 1. Oil is oil I change it enough that it really shouldn't matter!
Nobody ever mentions Kendall Oil, I have heard a lot of good things about it.
Cheapest crap I can get. I'm totally serious. I change it every 3K miles and use a 5-30 or 10-30 of whatever is on sale.
I've seen the internals of a lot of motors, let's say syn or not.. million dollar oil or not, if you leave it in there for extended miles.. the motor does develop some build up on parts. You can tell how often someone changes oil based on how the motor looks inside, not which type they use.
Best one ever.. Justin aka Nighthwk12 and I opened up a motor to cam it for a guy. I lifted the valve cover, dropped it back on and ran away to cry for my mommy. Neither of us believed that motor would run for long when it went back in.
AAAAHHH the horror the hhhooorrrorrr. That poor engine looked as if it was rattle canned black. The only shiny parts were the pushrod ends because they were sharped to a point.

Wow, I totally forgot about that. Let's say..they were so bad, we replaced the rockers and rods with some off the shelf. Those were then the only cleanish parts in the motor.
Even the cam was black between the lobes.
the guts of my engine are black as night too, last owners were not nice to it at all, but since ive owned it the rockers are cleaner, still black, but clearing up. oil stays golden looking longer and longer as i own it too, im 1500 miles in on the last change, its still golden, after the first oil change when i got it, the oil was dark with in a few hundred miles.
i also use what ever is on sale, oil is oil to me, especially since i change it every 3,000 miles. letting it go for 5 or 7,000 miles is just silly to me. oil still gets dirty. synthetic or regular oil.
when i got my car soon after i did the vc gaskets, this how they looked last time i had the vc's off, they used to be black as night, i see some metal coming through now.
my lifter valley was this dark when i did my lim. lets hope its getting cleaner with every oil change like the rockers are.
I ways use valvoline synpower. I wait till oreillys puts it on sale and get it then. And I'm in the same boat as Scotty...my oil looks better every change. I changed it right when bought car...nasty black. Then 3000 later so on so forth
Although there are thousands of threads (google) on this subject I will add to it.
Usually just use anything, but with it an additive (Pro-Long), you could literally hear the lifters quiet down when you added that stuff. That engine is approaching (on one of my other GP's) 200k and still purrs...
My GTP though... I've been using Mobile1 to clean things as mentioned since I got it. The previous owner didn't do too nice although inside wasn't too bad, I'd just like it cleaner.
