So I finally got my car running again and its awesome!! Thanks to everyone that helped and put up with all my question. I still have a po171 code that I'm working on but my idle is fine so I don't think its a vacuum leak? Could I have a vacuum leak and rpms be fine? I've been looking at other threads but at work this site is blocked so I can only see one page until I get my laptop fixed. And using my phone takes forever.

Try checking your intake for leaks, and especially your throttle body gasket. Possibly even your UIM gasket, lean condition more often than not is just a leak after the MAF sensor, so the engine sucks in air that isn't measured in addition to the normal amount of measured intake air. Too much air for the amount of fuel the car is calculating for.

Only way to tell if the RPM's aren't fluxuating is to read the fuel trims...do you have a tuner or a live scanner?

If so, check for the LTFT's after it is warmed up and at idle.

Check the EGR tube where it goes in the manifold. They crack right at the bracket.
Also search on BillBoost37 , he has some helpful how-to's on this.

My 02' GT is going into the shop tomorrow for the same exact thing. My inspection is up this coming Thursday and I have that po171 code as well with my CEL on. They are going to track it down tomorrow. I don't have time to do it myself and time is running out. I'll let you know what they find tomorrow. My idle is perfect as well and the car runs flawlessly except for the code.

I'll post from work if they get it finished tomorrow. You know how troubleshooting goes. Sometimes it's quickly discovered and sometimes not.

Well, I got home from work finally. They had the car the entire day and found that I have a leak at the Upper Intake Gasket, and a small leak at the Brake Booster. Well lucky me! They used some "Smoke Test" that sends smoke through the system and finds any little leaks you may have. Being that the car is in otherwise perfect condition, and that I only paid $1800 bucks for it, it makes sense to me to put the money into it now and get all the gaskets done with the upgraded ones once and for all.
